Have you ever been doing an activity, noticed a little twinge of discomfort somewhere and thought to yourself, “Not now, I have to finish this!” Our bodies listen to what we say and think and they respond in kind. Sometimes when we ignore our body’s pain signals our tissues compensate and we are able push through and keep going. Other times, when we’ve been doing that for longer than the body can take, the pain forces us to react. At those times we have to rest, take a break, or maybe even seek care from others.

CranioSacral Therapy is a way that we can peacefully reconnect with our bodies again. During a session, your CranioSacral Therapist will evaluate the holding patterns your body currently has in place. When we help the tissues to realize how they are holding tension and support them, we allow the nervous system to get more accurate feedback on what’s happening. At that point a few different things can happen. Sometimes we might notice a temporary increase in pain since we’ve been attempting to ignore it for awhile. Other times that non-conscious part of our body recognizes what is happening and shifts to allow for a more beneficial pattern. It can even be a bit of both! As we learn to listen to the signals from our tissues our body can be in greater harmony and our lives made better. We can even become so beautifully in tune with our bodies that our tissues can give us indicators about our mental and emotional state!
